President's Message By William Dunn

"Watch your energy store" Ray Makul is representing Mount Holly and Stony Brook RSA on matter of importance to water and wastewater facilities in the immediate PSE&G service area and through out NJ. His article in this issue of the AEA Authority View outlines the impacts and issues regarding a stable and reliable source of electricity. Power is 30 to 40% of a public utilities budget. Brown outs and unexpected reductions in power cause operational problems. Recently I have been metering the strength of the electrical power coming into the Mount Holly plant and have learned that cutbacks are more common than I ever expected. I suggest you monitor the strength of your power as well.

The concern that I have about the impacts of the Exelon merger go across the board for all members. If PMJ, the wholesale power interconnection which serves NJ has to supply more power to New York, NJ could be short changed and this would affect users of other power distributors.
