Bob Briant, Sr. to retire as CEO
After 33 years of service, Bob Briant, Sr. will retire on December 31, 2005 as Chief Executive Officer of the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association (UTCA). Bob will continue to provide support to the association's Board and staff on a limited basis. In the early 1970's, Bob was one of the founders of the Association of Environmental Authorities, then known as the Authorities Association of NJ. He served on many committees including the Board of Directors for many years. As a director, he was instrumental in encouraging the board to hire the first full time staff. With Bob's help and vision, a staff was hired in 1984. Bob was also very helpful on the legislative and regulatory fronts as well.

Bob serves as chairman of the NJ Environmental Infrastructure Trust. In this capacity he helps local agencies fund capital projects. As executive director of the UTCA, a major focus of his has been national funding for water, wastewater and highway projects.

In 1986, he was given the "Honorary Life Member Award" and in 1988 received the "Management Achievement Award" the highest award given by the association. Bob was very deserving of this award because it is given to recognize outstanding leadership skills and contributions made to the water, wastewater and solid waste industry.

By helping to organize conferences, lobby legislation and expanding membership, Bob has truly been a friend to AEA.

The Board of Directors, staff and members of AEA congratulate Bob and thank him for his many years of dedicated service. We wish him good health and happiness in his retirement.

The ACMUA provides bottled water for Hurricane Katrina relief
The City of Atlantic City (at the request of Council President Callaway) and the Atlantic City Municipal Utilities Authority, by its Board of Directors, has joined in the relief effort to provide bottled water to the areas that have been devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Immediately after the hurricane, the MUA sent all available bottled water supply, via the National Guard, to support the relief effort. In addition, the MUA has arranged, with the cooperation of the Pepsi Bottling Group in Mays Landing, New Jersey, to send an additional one thousand (1,000) cases of water to those in need, due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

This donation has been done on behalf of the City of Atlantic and the Atlantic City Municipal Utilities Authority Board of Directors.
