OUTSTANDING COMMISSIONER
Nancy Sungenis
Cumberland County Utilities
Authority
Nancy Sungenis has been a
Commissioner at Cumberland County Utilities Authority (CCUA)
since 1989, and during those twenty years she has also
been an active member of the Association of Environmental
Authorities (AEA). Her active involvement at CCUA
includes 1989 Appointed Commissioner, 1993 Appointed
Vice-Chair, and 2001 Appointed Chair.
Until her appointment as
Chair in 2001, Commissioner Sungenis served as Chair of
several active committees. Since being selected as the
CCUA Chair she attends every committee meeting as an ex
officio member adding her years of experience to the
betterment of the Authority. Her focus as Chair was to
increase workforce safety training, improve operations and
encourage employees to be publicly involved in their
communities. During this time, the Authority has had no
lost time accidents and has received the New Jersey
Governor’s Award for Safety for six consecutive years.
Her tenure as Chair included several construction projects
to improve operations and efficiency and included a Wave
Achievement Award winning project.
Before Chair Sungenis was
appointed Commissioner she was the Mayor of Hopewell
Township. As Mayor she began the process of adding a
sewer system to what is now one of the fastest growing
communities in the CCUA system.
Chair Sungenis’ involvement
with AEA includes attending every Spring and Fall
Conference to learn all she can to improve the CCUA
operation. She also has attended many specialty
conferences to expand her knowledge of authority
operations. She continues to be an inspiration to
involve Commissioners to make the Cumberland County
Utilities Authority better than ever. |
